It's National Exercise Day!

Today is a day for everyone and not just the health enthusiasts aka "gym rats".

According to nationaldaycalendar.com, "National Exercise Day began in 2020 and was founded and created by Jeuse Saint-Fleur. Today offers inspiration to try new ways of becoming fit and healthy. These days there is no reason not to do something for your health. Including healthier eating habits too."

If your new years resolution has fallen by the wayside, because life is currently lifing.

Today is a great day for a restart of your simple exercise routine.😁

FUN FACT: Walking at a brisk pace for just 11 minutes a day slashes the risk of YOUR premature death by almost a quarter, reports StudyFinds.org

By now, everyone is aware that regular physical activity is a must for optimal health.

Sure finding the time can be a challenge, but what about those who have difficulty getting around?

Not to worry. The second edition of Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans provides options for reaching your physical activity goals through different kinds of activities, including walking.

Walking is one of the most popular forms of physical activity that many of us already do every day.

In fact, more than 145 million adults partake in walking as physical activity.

In honor of today, here's a few ways you can pay homage:

📍Set the alarm for 30 minutes earlier and join the 5am club and do some stretches, or get that walk in first thing.

📍If you are "fit to fight" take the stairs at every opportunity instead of the elevators.

📍Switch up your exercise route and walk or run on a new trail.

📍Take your dog for a walk or run in your local park.

So no more excuses. If you’re not as active as you would like, it’s time to get walking, invite a few friends and family over, get that brisk walk in and afterwards prepare a healthy snack like Carrots and hummus.

This dynamic duo offers a satisfying crunch from the carrots and a creamy, flavorful dip with the hummus.

Why it’s great:

  • Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, fiber, and vitamins.

  • Hummus provides protein, healthy fats, and fiber.

Together, they make a snack that’s not only tasty but also keeps you full and energized until dinner. Plus, it’s a breeze to prepare – just slice some carrots and scoop out some hummus, and you’re all set!
