Technohealth?

Updated: Apr 30

Many people struggle with sustaining their health goals because they haven’t been using some of my favorite applications aka Technohealth, yes it is a thing:

SuperCook.com

You may have a few spices, some fresh tomatoes, a lime, and chicken breast in the house. Have you ever wondered what you could cook simply out of the ingredients you know you already have? Supercook helps you to do exactly this. Simply go to their site and start selecting the ingredients you have. The more you select, the more specific the recipes will get. Supercook scouts the web and gathers all these recipes in one place. Plus, it is kind on the wallet as it minimizes your grocery bill!

MyFitnessPal.com

If you are looking to lose weight, count calories, or are looking for a way to ensure you meet your protein or fiber goals for the day, MyFitnessPal is the perfect way to do so. Virtually every food is searchable in their database and the mobile app has a barcode scanner that will input the nutrition information directly. Log every day to see your nutritional habits over time, track weight loss progress and easily stay on pace with getting the fuel your body needs. For new food loggers, purchasing a food scale is a wise investment as it is very easy to overlook how many almonds are in a 2-oz portion size or exactly how many ounces that juicy steak weighs.

RunKeeper

For avid runners, hikers, bicyclists, walkers, skiers (and more!), RunKeeper has you covered. RunKeeper operates off of GPS and can track your workouts and provide helpful insights to your progress. Open the RunKeeper app, tell the program what type of exercise you are about to do and then get to it! You can stick to running on the road or through a hiking path that may not be “on the map.” Every five minutes the RunKeeper app will tell you how far you’ve gone, what your average pace is per mile as well as your current pace per mile. After your workout, mark it as DONE and see a full map of your run, the number of calories burned, each individual mile time and how this stacks up to workouts you’ve done in the past.

There are plenty of additional resources you can use to help keep you on track for your health goals, but these three would be a great place to begin and all of them have free options.
