It's National Cheeseball Day❗

Today we celebrate a food that is usually the life of the party-Cheeseballs!

According to nationaldaycalendar.com, the exact origins of this day are unknown. 

FUN FACT: 


  •  Cheese spread comes in the shape of a ball served with crackers, most often around Christmas in the U.S. This cheeseball is commonly made with softened cream cheese and other ingredients.



  • Cheese puffs are a puffed corn snack coated with a mixture of cheese or cheese-flavored powders. Cheese puffs are manufactured by extruding heated corn dough through a die that forms the particular shape, most likely a ball shape.


No matter which one you celebrate, both make for terrific snacking. 

In honor of today, here's a few ways you can pay homage:

INGREDIENTS


  • 1 container (8 ounces) cream cheese spread

  • 1   garlic clove, pressed

  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco® hot pepper sauce (optional)

  • 1 package (8 ounces) finely shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped almonds, pecans or snipped fresh parsley

  • Assorted crackers (optional)


DIRECTIONS


  1. In Classic Batter Bowl, combine cream cheese spread, garlic and pepper sauce, if desired; mix well. Add cheddar cheese to cream cheese mixture (mixture will be stiff).

  2. Using Small Scoop, drop level scoops of cheese mixture onto cutting board. Coat cheese balls in almonds, pecans or parsley. Serve with assorted crackers, if desired.


Yield: about 30 truffles  servings
