It's National Cheese Doodle Day❗

So it's still up in the air as to whom the original inventor of the cheese doodle is , but, today we get to celebrate with orange stained fingers.


According to nationaldaycalendar.com, cheese doodles are "found all across the country, these cheddar cheese-coated snacks come in puffed or crunchy, fried or baked. They also come in single-serving or jumbo-sized packaging."


In honor of today, here's a few ways you can pay homage:

 📍Add some cheese doodles to your lunch.

📍Crush them up and use them as breading for fish.

📍Try this recipe: Cheese Doodle Chicken Tenders

𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

olive oil, for greasing

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon hot sauce

2-1/2 cups finely ground cheese doodles (see note)

about 2 lbs. chicken tenders


𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease Sheet Pans with olive oil.

Using the Coating tray set, In the first, stir together the flour, salt, and pepper. In the second, whisk together the eggs, hot sauce, and a splash of water. In the third, place the ground cheese doodles.

One at a time, dredge each chicken tender in the flour, knocking off any excess. Then dip in the egg and then dredge in the cheese doodles. Place on the baking sheets about 1-inch apart. Repeat until all are used.

Bake for about 17-19 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.

Serve hot with barbecue sauce, or other dipping sauce such as ranch or honey mustard.
